Olivia Palermo For Sunday Life Magazine

The blogger/actress/model on selfies with her husband and partying with Valentino.

My husband  came up with the ‘Happy Sunday’ series on Instagram because he loves Sundays. We take pictures of ourselves together but we don’t always post them — only on Sundays.

Casual at home for me is hair swept back, ballet flats from Pretty Ballerinas and a Chinti and Parker cashmere sweater. Its fishergirl sweater is a classic for any woman.

The blue Manolo Blahniks I wore to my civil ceremony were the same as Carrie’s in Sex and the City, but that wasn’t why I chose them. It was my version of ‘something blue’.

I haven’t made specific plans for my official wedding dress yet, but it won’t be anything over the top. I want to do things a little more quietly.

People say that Girls is the new Sex and the City, but it’s not a show I connect with so much.

I think a lot of innovation comes out of London and I support British fashion. Victoria Beckham has done a beautiful thing with her fashion lines. The colour palettes, choice of fabrics and craftsmanship of her Resort collection were standout.

Whenever I’m in London, I love going to Portobello early on Saturday mornings to look for vintage brooches. Big stores will always be there, but the great finds are at flea markets and antiques fairs.

My most treasured piece of jewellery is an old cocktail ring given to me by my mother Lynn Hutchings. It’s timeless — gold with green and purple stones.

My eye for design comes from my mother. She’s an interior designer. I think I also inherited my love of jackets from her.

My plan B career was to become a sports commentator. I was really into ice hockey and lacrosse when I was growing up.

My Maltese terrier Mr Butler is always impeccably groomed. His white coat tends to be super-clean. I don’t know how he does it.

I look back to the Hollywood movies and fashion archives of the 1950s and 1960s for inspiration. My favourite film is 1958’s Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell. I think if anybody captures that style with a modern take, it’s Cate Blanchett. She always looks elegant on the red carpet.

I’ll never forget Valentino’s 45th anniversary celebration. It was a three-day event in Rome and everything from the bespoke one-shouldered gown I wore to the Cirque du Soleil-style show, to watching the sky in the evening at the Colosseum, made it very special.

The best fashion parties are in Paris, but I don’t go out very much in the evenings. When you run a fashion website, you kind of have to be on it, so I’m not one for nightclubs.
